Dear Sir,

I noted a fair proportion of Town Councillors were in attendance at the Great Aycliffe Residents’ Public Meeting last Thursday night to discuss litter, policing and changes to wheelie bin collections.

However I saw no County Councillors there to make comments from their perspective. I was later told they were in another special meeting to determine who would represent the Labour Party at the next County Council Elections. Obviously they were looking after their own well paid interest rather than that of their Ward constituents. The County Officers present at the meeting did try their best, but on the Wheelie Bin issue came away shamefaced!

The Policing question is still not resolved satisfactorily and if all the Police Authority is offering is a part time town centre office with a telephone then that is a major insult to a town with 30k inhabitants.
