A local company is appealing for donations to help support their affordable furniture scheme in Newton Aycliffe. The DISC Furniture Scheme, based at Horndale Avenue on Aycliffe Business Park, is open to the general public and aims to help families on low income furnish their homes at low cost.
Business Manager, Julie Nisbet, said “As families continue to struggle to furnish their homes, we take in saleable items, to refurbish and sell at affordable prices. We currently need furniture, white goods and children’s furniture, and are able to collect free of charge. Collections arranged at a time and date to suit the donor.”
The scheme is open to everyone and provides excellent opportunities for people to purchase ‘distressed’ furniture, with the aim of upcycling and experimenting with the growing ‘shabby-chic’ style.
The furniture scheme is managed by More Time UK Ltd, and it’s staff pride themselves on offering a flexible service with a consistently high quality of work.
They were recently shortlisted for Employer Of The Year at the Aycliffe Business Park ‘Make Your Mark’ awards. Volunteers are paramount to the success of the project, and there are a range of opportunities, from customer service skills, sales and admin, to furniture operatives and driver’s mate.
