Aycliffe Sub Aqua Club recently presented a cheque for the sum of £400 to the Great North Air Ambulance. The money was raised through a sponsored underwater endurance event where several members of the club remained underwater for a cumulative time in excess of 24hrs. Club chairman Martin Green said …‘we are always looking for ways in which we can help local groups and this event was a great way of helping a worthy local charity whilst promoting the club at the same time…..
We have run similar events in the past where we have raised money for the RNLI and other charitable organisations and we hope to be able to do similar fund raising events again in the future…’ The club meets at the Recreation Centre in Newton Aycliffe every Thursday and would like to invite anyone who might be interested in learning to SCUBA DIVE to come down and see them.
In addition the club would like to hear from any qualified divers who would also like to come along and join one of the friendliest clubs in the North East. Further details are available on the clubs website @ www.aycliffesubaquaclub.co.uk
