Following an extremely successful 2015-16 season when the team were crowned Champions of the TJFA Durham Division 3, Heighington U9s were looking to continue their good form in the Second Division and the crowd hasn’t been disappointed. At their best the lads can produce quality passing football the like of which you’d be lucky to see at St James’ Park or The Stadium of Light on a Saturday afternoon. Every member of the squad is putting in 100% for the team and as individuals their performances are improving week on week as they learn the game. Ollie has continued to grow in stature as a ‘keeper that the defence can rely on with four out of six clean sheets so far. Defensive positions are always tricky to fill but Joe, JP, Kenzie, Layton and Tyler have all done a fantastic job even though we all know they really want to just dash up the pitch and score goals. Meanwhile Aaron, Freddie, Jay and Theo continue to bamboozle defences with their trickery and pace. A League record of Played 4, Won 3, Drawn 1, Lost 0, Goals For 25, Goals Against 6 is impressive. We march on in the Cup too with wins against Greatham of the 1st Division and Spraire Lads (GF 9 GA 0).
