Newton Aycliffe U9 4 v Hardwick Youth 4 (Development Game)
Newton Aycliffe U9 Eagles started the season with a home fixture against Hardwick Youth. The boys started well and were passing the ball around nicely. We created some good attacking opportunities but failed to capitalise on these opportunities. Hardwick hit us on the break and scored with their 1st attempt of the game. The boys continued to play and brought the scores level through Dan’s persistence after firstly hitting the bar but following up to slot home the rebounding ball. We then deservedly took the lead just before half time when Evan turned home at the back stick. HT 2-1. Second half was a very even game. Both teams attacked at will but no more goals were scored as both sets of defenders and goal keepers did a superb job.
Second game was also a very competitive game. End to end for the whole game. Zane putting us 1 up before Harwick hit back and went 2-1 in front. Ht 1-2 Hardwick. 2nd half we battled back to 2-2 when Krystian fired home from the edge of the box. Hardwick retook the lead within minutes of the restart. Again we battled back through an unstoppable strike from Krystian as his drive from outside the area went in off the underside of the crossbar. We thought we had nicked a win when Evan cut inside and fired a shot in the bottom corner but straight from kick off Hardwick went straight up the other end and equalised. FT 4-4. Another great watch. Super proud of the effort today in hot conditions up at the complex today. Well done all involved, Carter Jayden, Dylan, Evan, Dan K, James, Kristian, Brandon, Nathan, Zane and Dan C, Coby.
