To start with I would like to appeal to everyone who reads this article and their family and friends to please leave water out for our wildlife, all wildlife. As a hedgehog rescuer I know the state of some of these beautiful creatures and with the support of Grange Vets I have everything here should I need to give fluids and it’s mostly injectable too. Please help them.
Baby season is in full swing, every rehabber is full to bursting with babies and small hedgehogs and I am no exception, some little ones are abandoned by their mums because they have a health difficulty, Charley, pictured, is just such an example, this poor soul was cold and wet in a puddle at a mere 85 grams, she came here, went in our incubator and has had treatment for an upset tummy. It’s taken some work for her to gain weight because she didn’t have teeth when she arrived, syringe feeding her every three hours has been part of the work and, bless her, she is thriving now with our other tinies here.
Now that we have managed to stabilise our poorly babies I can turn my attention to some fundraising I may even do a raffle because I have some lovely items to put in my raffle.
Can I finally take this opportunity to thank June, Marlene, Denise, Susan and Linda of Jorgias Attic for their continued support, this rescue wouldn’t be the same without their help
Tip of the week: Hedgehogs are nocturnal and should not be seen out during the day, whatever the size. Should you see one please ring The British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801. They also have my details on their Rehabbers Database.
