Dear Editor,
As some of your readers will remember from previous articles we have been fundraising to purchase a new wheelchair for Josh a 14 year old teenager with Cerebral Palsy who has outgrown his current wheelchair.
On the 31st May 2012 Josh’s Uncle Stephen swam a sponsored mile. He was helped by Josh who swam alongside him to cheer him on. As seen from the photograph it all went swimmingly well and Stephen rose over £400 towards Josh’s new chair.
The other good news is that on the 20th June Josh travelled to Birmingham and was assessed for his new chair which was ordered that day. It will take several weeks to build and as soon as he receives it we will send a picture for your readers.
Josh and his family would like to thank everyone who has helped and been so generous at a time when everyone is feeling the pinch financially.
Thank you to a very generous local couple who saw our article in your paper and also to The Rotary Club Newton Aycliffe, local Woodham Charity- Sixteen Amateur Golf Society, Aycliffe born Chelsea Goal keeper Ross Turnbull, Josh’s school Greenfield Community College and natural therapist Carole Dawson.
Thank you to Joshua’s Granddad Brian who raised money at a fundraising luncheon and also other family members who have made kind donations and finally to all those lovely people who donated raffle prizes.
As we reported in an earlier article we have been so successful we raised the amount we needed much earlier than expected.
The total is £5734 which is incredible and means that we can put the money left over towards buying Josh a new specialist bike as he has outgrown his last one.
