Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club headed to Sunderland once again for the City of Sunderland Swimming Club’s National Qualifier gala. A ‘level one’ competition, from which recorded times can be used for qualification for the summer national competitions.
Five swimmers put themselves to the test in the Olympic-sized pool. Charlie McEwan swam two 50m races, butterfly and freestyle, equalling his best ever freestyle time. Zoe Hodgson swam 100 and 400m freestyle, beating her 100m time by almost three seconds in a top quality swim while Niamh Renton showed good form in her 50m backstroke being very close to PB.
Aviana Wilson swam four events, 50 and 100m freestyle and 50 and 100m backstroke. She beat her PB by two seconds in the 100m back, placing third with top-five finishes in the other three.
Jessica Bell beat her 100m breaststroke PB for the second time in two weeks, finishing second, and placing third in 50m breaststroke and butterfly, and fourth in 200m individual medley.
The regional long course (50m pool) championships come next for the club, held at Sunderland and Sheffield with four qualifiers taking part.
