What an absolute blast we had last Sunday at The Hammer & Pincers. With close to 200 in attendance in the gorgeous garden setting, complete with festival tent – we were treated to five hours of live music from a group of insanely talented musicians.
First up we had local acoustic duo Jenami who performed covers as well as their own music and really got the crowd warmed up. Next was Jenna, from Leeds, who has had her music featured on Love Island, an absolutely gorgeous dreamy voice you could listen to all day.
We then had a surprise act, Tricia Longford was attending the event. She has been working with The Dunwells on her first EP so we decided to ask her to sing a couple of her own songs. She went down a storm with a truly professional performance and many members of the audience asking for more information about her afterwards. We were then treated to a 40 minute set from Heighington local and award winning country singer, Hayley McKay, and her fantastic band. Wow, she is incredible, her own songs and a fabulous vocal, the atmosphere in the tent by this point was on fire.
In between sets people had a chance to mingle, get a drink from the outside bar and food that was being cooked to order outside too. The Hammers team are great at these type of events and did us proud as usual.
For the last couple of hours, as darkness fell, the fire pit was lit and we were treated to a set by Solow Choir aka Matt Dunwell. Matt played a great mix of his own songs that got the crowd on their feet and a real festival vibe going.
Headliners, The Dunwells, finished off the day for us with an absolutely electric set of their own songs, amazing harmonies and brotherly banter from these two and the tent was alive with people dancing and singing. These two brothers are incredibly talented musicians and genuinely lovely lads. All the musicians networked after their sets and chatted to the audience while signing merchandise.
This event just keeps getting better and bigger year on year and we can’t wait to see what Summertime Fest 23 brings! If anyone wants more information on how to be involved next year please contact Ally Mendelsohn on 07971 577572.
