Police Authority Chairman Peter Thompson told the Town Council this week they are in negotiation to provide a Police Office in the Town Centre.
The Authority is proposing the Police share the premises with the Fire Station next door to the old Police Station to give residents a central point of contact.
The news was welcomed by Great Aycliffe Residents Association who met yesterday to discuss the overwhelming demand for a town centre police office in the survey they are currently conducting.
