Best-selling and classic titles are available anytime, anywhere  at St John’s Catholic Academy in Bishop Auckland  –  proud to announce that students now have 24 hour access to eBooks and audiobooks.
Students can browse their new OverDrive website, borrow titles and enjoy them on computers and many devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Nook®, Android™ phones and tablets.  EBooks can be read immediately and all titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. Students are also able to reserve books, write reviews and request new reading materials.
Linzi Heads, the LRC Manager at St John’s and the coordinator of the project said, “This is an exciting time for both students and staff at St John’s. We have a fantastic reading culture in school and this additional service can only enhance that further. Before Christmas we introduced an iPad leasing scheme in school, so the launch of our eBook platform coincides well with this.”
St John’s Catholic Academy is involved in a partnership with 12 Catholic secondary schools across the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese and the new eBook Platform will be shared between these schools.  The financial investment from each school means that students in all schools will have access to many more resources than if just one single school had invested. This is the first time that a partnership of schools has undertaken a shared eBook Platform.  For further information about this exciting scheme and its future developments, please contact Linzi Heads at St John’s in Bishop Auckland.
