“Remembering You” a poem by year 6, St. Francis’ Junior School.
Look up to the sky, the skies of blue.
Remember our sacrifice, we did it for you.
Battle scars lay bare across my face,
Forget the past, don’t leave a trace.
My family left all alone in the night,
While I battle hard with all my might.
Eerie smells enter my nose,
A putrid stench of foes on foes.
With a poppy on our shoulder as we all get older.
Remembering you, my fallen soldier.
The year 6 children wrote this poem as part of our remembrance celebration. They also told us how important it is to remember the fallen, not just on 11th November, but every day.
Our school art club created Poppy Art which was displayed around school and we all appreciated the sacrifices made by those so many years ago.
