Durham County Carers Support are organising sponsored walks across the County to raise funds for carer and volunteer services.

We are a voluntary organisation that provides a range of high quality services and support to unpaid Carers living in the Durham County area. We provide support, information and advice on a variety of issues that are important to Carers.

In addition to this we have a range of volunteer’s services including our transport service which takes carers and the person they care for to medical appointments, a counselling service for those who are waiting to access mainstream services and we have a fully accessible minibus which we use to take groups of carers to events.

We would very much like for these services to continue however lack of funding is making it increasingly difficult to keep our volunteer services running. By organising these sponsored walks we hope to be able to kick off a fundraising campaign to save these services whilst raising awareness for the unpaid carer.

Our first walk will take place along the Great Aycliffe Nature Trail on Wednesday 10th July starting at 10am and ending at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre where people are invited to bring a picnic and join us in the park or meet inside should the weather be unkind. We would like to open up the walk to anyone who would like to take part.

Joining fee is £5 per person, adults can bring children along free of charge. Participants are welcome to seek sponsorship to help raise funds no matter how small all donations are welcome. Full route details will be provided in a joining pack which you can request from joanne.jones@dccarers.org or by calling 01325 313123.
