Shildon’s senior runners which include athletes from Aycliffe had a busy month but took part in the Richmond Castle 10k. The wet and blustery conditions and a tough undulating course could not prevent Chris Griffith from leading the athletes home in 44.54s, just a week after completing the Keilder Marathon in 3hrs 34m.
Following were Steve Minns (45.54), Eddie Murphy (47.58), David Beadle (49.04), and club coach Andrew Griffiths (50.18). Gareth Shaw was unfortunate to pick up an injury while running the course which forced him to withdraw but did not deter him from cheering on his fellow club team mates.
An oversight in last week’s report on the nysd XC at Acklam Grange meant u11b Ben Etherington was missed from our results. Ben finished in a creditable 19th place.
