Aycliffe Running Club members braved the elements to compete in the second of the Stockton Winter Trail series of 5k races which was held at Cowpen Bewley. This was the Gavin Duffy memorial race which was as always well supported with almost 300 runners attending. As expected conditions were muddy under foot, but not as bad as previous years.
First home for the club by a long way was John Surtees finishing in 4th position in a brilliant 19:18. Not too far behind was Tracey, 64th in 23:23, followed by Dave Blewitt, 72nd in 23:52 and Michelle Zamir, 80th in 24:16. Next to finish was Alan Wilks, 94th in 24:47 and 1st in his category of males over 65, followed by Susan Clark, 241st in 35:08 and Eve Doe, 255th in 37:48. Finally, Ray Todd finished 269th in 41:05.
18 Aycliffe runners turned out for the annual Ravenstondale 10K on Saturday 25 November, which has become a firm favourite in the club’s racing calender. The hilly course loops around country roads with beautiful scenery.
First home for the club and 3rd overall was Joe Restell in 37:08. He was followed by Martyn Knox in 42:44, Richard Holland in 43:54, Susan Cranswick in 43:57, David Blewitt in 45:13, Rob Nicholson in 48:30, Austin Donoghue in 50:11, Trish Kay in 51:24.
Next came Nick Gilling in 51:33, Andrew Lumley in 51:44, Warren Raine in 51:57, Alan Kellett in 54:36, Gary Minns in 55:22, Anne Kellett in 55:58, Bev Phillippo in 59:53, Lindsey Brown in 59:59, Ian Baronowski in 01:00:36 and Eve Doe in 01:09:02
