Dear Sir,
Many times in life, no matter what you do, you can’t win and whilst many bemoan the end of the old two day Great Aycliffe Show, just as many thought it was dated and time to try something new.
As someone who campaigns for more support for Community Centres and local groups I welcome the Council’s decision to try something else. Some things could be done different but it was the first attempt and I am sure we will all learn things from this.
Whilst the many day time activities did mean people had to perhaps limit where they could attend, decent numbers appear to have attended.
Our Heartbeat day featured a great display by the Taekwondo Club’s Little Tigers section, and rides on the Heartbeat Bus proved very popular with both old and young. Thanks to Aycliffe Bus Preservation Society, Ian Wiggitt and H’Angus the Hartlepool Monkey for providing such great fun.
Our 60’s Music Night was fabulous fun provided by MAD Community Choir, suitably dressed in 60’s fancy dress and they were transported on the Heartbeat Bus of the same era.
A Pie and Pea supper was provided and Disco music by Daniel finished off an evening of great entertainment. Thanks to everyone who attended.
David Sutton-Lloyd.
