The start of the Autumn Term saw the launch of a new competition in school in partnership with Sodexo the school catering contractor. In order to help and encourage students to make healthy choices in the dining hall at break and lunch time, bonus points are now awarded to students who select the healthy options available from the schools daily menu’s.

These points have accrued during the term with the added incentive of prizes for the top 5 students awarded at the end of the term. Healthy competition ensued during the term with the top 10 students being displayed weekly on the leader board in the dining hall. It was a close fought competition right until the end with only a difference of 4 points between first and second place.

Congratulations to Lena Baxter, Connor Thompson, Adam Sanderson, Reece Wilkinson and Willow Drury who were Greenfield Community College’s Healthy Choice winners this term. All students were presented with a certificate and £10 high street shopping voucher in assembly to celebrate their achievements.

This competition is made possible by the use of the school’s cashless catering system. Other benefits of this system include the facility for students to pay for meals in advance by cash or cheque, students entitled to free school meals remain anonymous as they purchase meals in the same way as other students and parents/carers can monitor their child’s purchases by requesting a report of their daily spend.

The competition will run on a termly basis with prizes for the top 5 students presented at the end of each term.
