David Brown, who has lived in Aycliffe Village for 20 years, has recently been recognised for his lifetime of outstanding generosity in donating over 100 pints of blood to the National Blood Transfusion Service.
He has been giving blood for over 50 years – since he was a 16-year-old apprentice at ICI in Middlesbrough – and has never missed a call to donate. He is continuing to donate and is so far up to 102 pints given, and countless lives saved.
David attended a ceremony at Sedgefield Racecourse to celebrate this achievement alongside other long-standing donors.
The National Blood Transfusion Service is vital in helping the NHS improve and save lives. It welcomes all blood groups, but is especially needing O negative, B negative and A negative donors. Find out more about the service and your local donation centre at blood.co.uk
