Aycliffe resident Reece Mcallister has fulfilled the ultimate in his sport, by becoming World Champion at 66kg.  On April 13th Phoenix Thai Boxing fighter Reece and Coach/father Gary took the short trip to Sedgefield’s Hardwick Hall, with 140 fantastic supporters.
Reece faced Jackson Barkhouse who sported a fight record of 44 fights with 3 losses beating some of the top names from around the world.  This fight had “War” written all over it. When both lads weighed in the day before and the belt was shown at the face off the mood changed and winning was the only goal in mind.  When fight day arrived it was like no other day. There was a massive buzz among the supporters of the show, but on announcement of Reece to the ring the place erupted.  In the 1st round of the fight, spectators watched both fighters exchanging some fantastic technique.
At the end of the round Reece had suffered a cut above his eye, but once patched up he went out for the 2nd round and put on an all-out assault on Jackson which saw the end of the fight with Reece knocking his opponent out with his elbow.  The Phoenix camp boasts 43 titles and now has its own World Champion in Reece Mcallister.
