Aycliffe’s unique Bridal Boutique, now open for business, is both good for the environment and good on the pocket.
The Green Aisle Bridal Boutique opened in the town after Amanda, the owner, started searching for bridal wear for her own family’s wedding. “I was shocked to discover it takes on average 10,000-20,000 litres of water and 10-20kg of carbon emissions to make one dress, which is often only worn for less than 1 day and then stored in lofts or cupboards, never to see the light of day again. With the average price of a wedding dress being over £1,300, on top of having to travel to Darlington, Newcastle, York, or further, to purchase these dresses, couples are deterred from celebrating their love for each other. This gave me the idea of opening a local, sustainable bridal boutique that not only sells pre-loved or ex-sample wedding dresses, but also bridesmaid dresses and prom gowns.”
The boutique, which is located in Suite 4 of Avenue House, Greenwell Road (just above the old TSB building), boasts over 80 dresses in stock. This includes designer dresses such as Ronald Joyce and Margaret Lee and new dresses, all at up to 50% off RRP. “We stock a range of sizes and if we don’t have the dress or size you are looking for, please talk to us and we will do our best to source this.” There is also the option to purchase through interest free instalment plans, with a non-refundable deposit at purchase and the remaining balance paid over a period of up to 6 months; helping everyone to purchase a dress for their special day.
Environmentally conscious Amanda is proud to be one of the only bridal boutiques in the area to be a member of the Sustainable Wedding Alliance. Not only are the beautiful range of dresses sustainable, but also their business cards, leaflets, decorations, fixtures and even their electric are all gained from sustainable sources. “We also sell environmentally friendly confetti as well as other beautiful accessories for the bride to be.”
VIP appointments can be easily booked via Facebook or through contacting Amanda.
