Two fantastic new artworks were unveiled at Greenfield Community College and Sunnydale Community College recently. The artworks were commissioned for both campuses by a group of Year 7 students at the schools, during a transition summer school earlier in the year.
The students thought about what they were looking forward to in their transition from Primary school and the activities and skills they were excited to develop. They talked about independence, creativity, learning, meeting new friends and being confident. They sketched ideas and worked with Dan Walls from Illumination Wall Art to explore their ideas during the Summer school organised by Greenfield Arts.
After being given a brief from the young people, Dan Walls created 2 artworks that echo each other, 1 for each site.
Both are installed in the progress and guidance areas for the school to see and enjoy. One of the students involved in the project said: “It looks amazing, I feel really proud! You can see all of our ideas.”
