Sedgefield 75 ASC’s swimmer Matthew Bradley (17) competed on the 12th of July at Newcastle Swim Teams annual summer gala in the Tynemouth Swimming complex.
Matthew’s first swim was the 200 metres individual medley in which he excelled taking the gold medal and achieving a personal best time of 2.07.91. This meant he qualified for the Skins Knockout competition later in the day. Next up was the 50 metres backstroke with another gold medal and a personal best time of 27.84.
After a short break Matthew competed in the skins competition which involves rapid 50 metre swims with the last placed swimmer in each 50 metre swim being eliminated. Matthew stepped up to the mark and swam two rounds of 50 metre butterfly, two 50 metre breaststroke and in the final a 50 metre freestyle where he achieved a personal best time of 24.10 seconds and took the top prize of £30.
In the afternoon session Matthew continued his weekend success by taking gold in the 50 metres freestyle in a time of 24.57 seconds and finished the day well in the 200 metres freestyle taking his fourth gold and achieving a personal best time of 1.54.88.
