Woodham Academy recently announced a massive investment in new digital technology, which is bound to make it the envy of other schools. Over the summer break support staff worked feverishly to replace all of the school’s existing stock of computers with 410 brand new, state of the art machines. Each machine comes with high definition widescreen monitors and the latest industry standard software for creating webpages, graphics, animations and mobile applications.
This, combined with 6 specialist ICT suites, 2 specialist Computing teachers, further computer suites in specialist areas (such as Music, Technology, Literacy and Health and Social Care), iPads, WiFi access and at least one computer in every classroom is guaranteed to provide Woodham Academy students with the best chance for accessing current jobs and those in emerging markets such as expert systems, security, software development and multimedia.
Computing teacher Mrs Lind said “I am delighted with opportunities the new technologies will bring to our Computing students. The new computer set up, along with our outstanding ICT results in the summer puts us in a unique position for the start of the academic year“
Mrs Lind is also taking advantage of the new computers to deliver the nationally recognised Computing Club for Girls (CC4G) course for years 7 and 8 on Tuesday lunchtimes in her computer suite, room 111.
