Plans to improve Broadband Connectivity for Newton Aycliffe have been announced following various meetings with community representatives. Nexfibre, a next generation fibre network operator, have confirmed they will be providing full fibre broadband to Newton Aycliffe and to other parts of the region including Trimdon, Trimdon Grange, Fishburn, Sedgefield, Chilton, Ferryhill, Bowburn, Coxhoe and Cornforth.
Virgin Media O2 are working with Nexfibre on the build elements of the network rollout and Paul Howell, MP for Sedgefield, was briefed about these plans in a recent meeting with the Nexfibre and Virgin Media 02 team. During 2024, approximately 34k premises are planned to benefit from the rollout, taking coverage to over 80%.
Paul Howell said: “It is fantastic news to hear spades will soon be in the ground to provide full fibre broadband in Newton Aycliffe and that this will be the start of improved broadband connection across the Sedgefield Constituency. I will be working closely with the Virgin Media O2 (VM02) team to share this good news as their work begins to provide fibre delivery across the region. Earlier this week VM02 also met with the Digital Durham team and Newton Aycliffe County Councillors and Town Councillors and it was great to hear that progress is being made and information is being shared across the community.”
Virgin Media O2 have confirmed Notice of Works letters will be sent out to residents ahead of starting any work.
