We would like to raise public awareness about our local event that supports the national campaign ‘Let Our Kids Be Kids’, providing an opportunity for parents and children to come together for a fun day of learning.
On the day there will be Relax Kids activities, interactive storytelling, arts and crafts, games and a nature walk.
Our young children are under far too much pressure to adhere to a test-driven curriculum. Over the years the curriculum has become more and more prescribed, as schools and teachers are forced to teach to the test.
As a result, our children are becoming disinterested in learning (at best) and more and more children, as young as five and six, are feeling like failures and suffering from low self-esteem. We are losing far too many fantastic teachers who cannot continue working professionally with such restrictions placed upon them.
The government has ignored concerns from educational experts, teaching unions and schools. It’s time that PARENTS unite to take a stand and show the government that this is NOT OK! Our event will be taking place at Brafferton Village Hall DL1 3LA on Tuesday 3rd May from 10am – 2:30pm.
We ask anyone participating to bring a packed lunch for their children and suitable clothing for the nature walk as well as a suggested donation of £1 to cover the costs of the hall and crafts.
