Children at Woodham Burn Primary School began their participation in the general election in fine style when members of the School Council travelled to London to visit local MP Phil Wilson at the Houses of Parliament.
School Council representatives from Y3 – Y6 took with them questions from their classes to pose to their MP and enjoyed meeting Mr Wilson in his office as well as a tour of the Palace of Westminster.
At the close of the visit Mr Wilson was presented with a Woodham Burn bag in which to carry important papers. He then posed with this and council members near to Big Ben.  The children travelled back to school inspired with all they had seen and determined to play an active part in the 2015 General Election.
In the coming weeks Woodham Burn pupils will elect party leaders representing each of the main political parties in school and will hold their own election to vote in their own ‘School Prime Minister’ on 7th May.
