FC Hartlepool U13 3 v Heighington U13 2
Heighington U13’s travelled to league leaders FC Hartlepool in a top of the table clash. The home side dominated the early proceedings and deservedly went ahead but Heighington fought their way back into the game and grabbed an equaliser when Olly Humphrey fired home just before the half-time whistle to mark his 3rd goal in 3 games. Half Time: FC Hartlepool 1 Heighington 1.
The second half saw Heighington gain a foothold in the game and they began to create chances, however it was Hartlepool who, against the run of play, took advantage of Heighington’s failure to defend a cross and their striker finished smartly from the edge of the box. With less than 5 minutes remaining Ollie Wallace finished off a great cross from Alfie Pattison for a deserved equaliser. The match was well into injury team when, with literally the last kick of the game, Hartlepool poked in a contentious winner.
Man of the Match: Jack Bell, Jack was imperious in an unfamiliar position. He defended superbly and used the ball cleverly throughout. Keeping their winger quiet whilst launching attack after attack with his great range of passing. An outstanding performance Jack!
Heighington FC U11 10 v Wickham Whites U11 1
The Heighington U11s boys christened their new match kit with a fantastic game in the morning rain today. It was Wickham who struck early on, reminding our lads we need to be sharp from the start.
Once we woke up, Heighington seemed to click into second gear and were quite frankly formidable for the rest of the game. The lads were both selfless and ruthless in front of goal and played with great attitude and approach. A vast improvement from last week, with great team football and spirit on display. The opposition keeper was an iron curtain today and the scoreline could easily have been double. Some great midfield and defence play resulted in some calm playing out from the back which was great to see.
Goals: Lucas Faulkner x 4, Jack Collingwood x 3, Bruno Clack x 2 and Will Farrow x 1.
MOTM: The whole team, they were a pleasure to coach today and all worked very hard for each other. Great to see some big smiles out there and some great goal celebrations also.
