After 26 years serving Sugar Hill, as cleaner in charge, Linda Burniston retired on Friday 11th February. Head Teacher Paula O’Rourke said, “She has been an absolute asset and superstar throughout her time here. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and staff are greeted every morning by her cheerful smile and chat. She has been here throughout the pandemic, working with the cleaning team to ensure the school is a safe environment for the children every day.”
Linda was overwhelmed when she arrived at school on Thursday afternoon, to the main hall decorated with bunting from every child in school. Linda enjoyed afternoon tea with all the staff.
Linda said, “I have loved working at Sugar Hill because the staff have been like a second family to me. In my time at Sugar Hill I have made lots of friends and seen lots of changes for the better. The cleaning team that I have worked with are very special to me and I will miss them very much.”
Linda has been married to Terry for forty-two years and is looking forward to spending more time with her family and three grandchildren. She has lots of plans to visit family and friends. Linda is looking forward to going on short weekend breaks and enjoying her hobbies. She will be a big miss at Sugar Hill. Staff, children and governors wish Linda all the very best for a healthy retirement that is so very well deserved.
Happy Retirement Linda, from everyone at Sugar Hill.
