Dear Sir,

Once again I wish to highlight the ongoing issue of traffic congestion around Byerley Park School, particularly the evening of Thursday 28th November, at approximately 5pm. On returning home from work and turning into Staintondale from Greenfield Way, the street was in a state of gridlock caused by parents dropping their children off at the school for an out of hours activity, it was absolute chaos with cars blasting their horns and blocking driveways, entrances to cul-de-sac’s and preventing movement both up and down the street and also backing right onto the main road on Greenfield Way.

On trying to make my way through the traffic to get on my drive, I suffered verbal abuse from a man who thought I had no right to try to get to my home. The congestion went on for a good 45 minutes making it a very unsafe place for drivers and pedestrians alike. Arranging an event at the school to coincide with people coming home from work was not well thought out at all, it beggars belief that in one evening our road was congested at 3pm, 5pm and then 7pm when parents came to collect their children.

I am all for the school arranging fun filled evenings for children but it is the lack of consideration of parents parking that angers me, especially since I note that a number of parents live within walking distance of the school.

On a last but very serious note, in the event that the emergency services were called out to a resident living on the Chase on that evening of the 28th November they would not have stood a chance of getting through the traffic!

I would like to praise the headmistress of Byerley Park who was also clearly upset with the situation and made every attempt to have her staff marshalling the traffic at 7pm when the parents came to collect their children.
