On Friday 27th September a group of students at Greenfield College in Mr Butterworth’s GCSE group made a long distance Skype call to Florida, to speak to professional golfer Jodi Ewart-Shadoff.
The call allowed the pupils to speak to her about her experiences representing Team Europe in the Solheim Cup (The Women’s’ equivalent to the Ryder Cup) earlier this summer.
The pupils engaged in dialogue with Jodi relating to topics covered in recent lessons, such as Role Models, Sponsorship, Technology and Media in Sport. Every pupil in the class asked a question and were delighted with her enthusiasm and attitude in sharing her experiences and giving our young pupils advice and tips in order to realise their childhood dreams.
Jodi is currently ranked at 42 in the Women’s golf ROLEX rankings but is aiming to soon break into the top ten with an ultimate ambition to reach number 1 in the world.
The pupils were engaged learners throughout the Skype call and were presented the opportunity to interact with a top-class sporting professional from across the globe. The pupils left the classroom feeling a huge sense of inspiration and motivation.
Massive thanks to Jodi for making this learning episode materialise and good luck in your upcoming tournaments from all at Greenfield Community College.
