Recently a group of students from Greenfield Community College, Aycliffe Site, spent the day at a Year 10 Maths feast, a national event organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme.
This is a national event which combines mathematical, communication and teamwork skills and offers students another way to express and develop their enjoyment of mathematics. Greenfield’s team joined 14 other teams from across the North East at the Durham Science Centre in Pity Me for a day of maths activities.
The programme was set out as a menu – with a starter task, hors d’oeurvres, main, dessert and  petit-fours! Greenfield’s team won the ‘Main’ course – a challenging problem solving activity and were joint winners of the’ dessert’ which was making the Columbus Cube Tower.
The students had a great day, representing Greenfield with their attitude and excellent behaviour – well done!
