On Friday 7th June, eleven Year 10 budding lawyers took part in a Skype lesson as part of Woodham Academy’s global communications project.  The session was delivered by Mark Richardson, a ex-Woodham students who left in 2002, completed A Levels at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form and studied Law at the University of Osford.  Mark is currently working for the legal company, Baker and McKenzie, and is based in London.

Students had the opportunity to get a real insight about entry routes into the profession and qualifications needed.  They had the opportunity to ask questions about courses and the lifestyle.  The session was both informative and supported them at a key stage in their academic careers.

The use of Skype as a learning tool is a priority at Woodham Academy and this lesson forms part of a series of events offered to students in all year groups .  Sarah McGinnety, coordinator of the event, said ‘Skype is an excellent way of bringing inspirational speakers into school to help raise student aspirations and ensure that we develop well informed young people who will become effective contributors to our local community’.
