greenfield trip to durham WEB

June comes around and it is time once again for a Humanities field visit at Greenfield Community College. Last week Year 8 students visited Durham Cathedral and central Durham city as part of their studies. The weather was glorious with sunshine and warm temperatures. The students investigated the history of the Cathedral, assessed how religious the visiting public actually were and whether or not Durham was a tourist location. We received many compliments as to how well behaved and hardworking the students were. Highlights included interviewing a variety of nationalities from Australians to South Africans which went some way to prove that Durham is a tourist location, the sheer awesome interior of the Cathedral itself and a trip up the tower for the lucky winners of the History competition!

The Humanities department have shown once again the degree to which History, Geography and RE are integrated and shown students just how vital and critical all three subjects are to understanding the world about us.

Well done Year 8!!
