Greenfield Arts and Greenfield Community College are working in partnership with Durham University to engage students creatively with Science.

Greenfield Arts, Unfolding Theatre and Durham University are working with a team of students from Greenfield College’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Club.

The students will devise, design and create a piece of live theatre which aims to stimulate wonder and curiosity within them and their future audience about the world and their place within it.

The students have started to develop their ideas of what science and creativity means to them, working with professional theatre director and performer Annie Rigby (founder of Unfolding Theatre) and mentor scientists from Durham University Research Departments including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics & Psychology.

During the Easter holidays the group visited the University, performing hands-on experiments and investigations, and exploring their own responses and sense of wonder and curiosity. During following-up after-school sessions this term they will bring their ideas together to develop their ideas into a live performance, the exact parameters and direction of which will be set by the students as the project develops.

In July the show will be performed to students at Greenfield Community College, and then go on to tour other local secondary schools.
