It was heart-warming to see so many parents, carers and young people turn out on a cool autumnal night for the school’s open evening.  Thank you.

Once again, Headteacher, David Priestley was able to proudly talk about record results and our future plans to build on success and reach for the stars.

The evening began with some amazing demonstrations of skills developed by our young people in our wide ranging and exciting performing arts and sports curriculums.  The confidence, self-discipline and talent exhibited by the students couldn’t help but impress everyone in the audience.

However, Open Evening at Greenfield is not about ‘show time’ it is about welcoming all visitors into the school and inviting them to go wherever they wish, ask whatever they like and meet all of the staff and many, many students as they work together and demonstrate what this highly successful school has to offer.

Moving from department to department parents, carers and their children were able to enjoy poetry slams, pyrotechnic science displays, mathematical puzzles and challenges, opportunities to try out their artistic talents, a quick session on the drums, creating designs for tasty muffins (and then eating them) and much, much more.

The sports facilities were heaving with dynamic groups bounding on trampolines, demonstrating tactics and using the all-weather facilities to their maximum potential.

Some visitors formed part of the tour groups, led by the leadership team while those who preferred to wander by themselves, mapped their own routes and visited areas which most interested them.

And of course, no visit to school is complete without an opportunity to sample school dinners!  School dinners, you exclaim?  Yes, but not how you remember. Vegetable curry was the order of the night along with just a small sample of the delicious food that fuels our students every day.

So, thank you everyone.  We had great fun and were proud to share out school with you.  However, if you were not able to attend but would like to, it isn’t too late.  Just pick up the phone (01325 300378) and we will happily organise your visit.
