Golf sessions for beginners are being held in the Durham Dales area.

Durham County Council is organising the Get into Golf sessions, which will take place from September at Bishop Auckland Golf Club and Barnard Castle Golf Club.

Professional coaching and all equipment will be provided and the sessions are open to people aged 16 and older.

Bishop Auckland Golf Club will be running a four-week course, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6pm and 7pm, starting on Tuesday, September 4.

A six-week course will take place at Barnard Castle Golf Club on Saturdays between 2pm and 3.30pm, starting on Saturday, September 8.

Marie Urwin, sport and physical activity project officer at Durham County Council, said: “We’ve already held a number of successful Get into Golf sessions, which have proved really popular.

“These are the last golf sessions we’ll be organising this summer and spaces are limited so we’d urge people who are interested in taking part to book in advance.”

Each session costs £2, which includes the provision of equipment and professional coaching.
