Businesses now have even more incentive to attend Spacetech 13 in March with the world class event adding a further name to an already exciting schedule.

Delegates attending the North East conference for the space sector will get the opportunity to hear from Dr. Paula Chadwick of Durham University and representative for the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). Business Durham, the business gateway for Durham County Council, is organising the one day event focusing on new and developing opportunities within the global space technology industry, a sector that has grown on average by 7.5 per cent since 2008.

Attendees will hear from respected industry and academic experts and learn about opportunities in the exploitation and development of new products and services for the space sector which is worth around £9.1bn to the UK economy.

Dr Chadwick will be providing an insight into the Cherenkov Telescope Array, joining a list of speakers including Telespazio VEGA, the European Space Agency, The Technology Strategy Board, The Satellite Applications Catapult Centre and NOVA, a US company involved with the Mars Curiosity Rover. The event will be chaired by UKspace, the trade association for the space industry.

Dr Chadwick said: “Spacetech 13 is a fantastic opportunity to get the UK industry excited about the Cherenkov Telescope Array.

“The CTA project provides a number of opportunities for businesses of all shapes and sizes to get involved with opportunities in optics, mirrors, camera technologies, software, engineering and fabrication.

“I am really looking forward to meeting the delegates who will be attending.”

The annual conference will take place at the North East Technology Park (NETPark) on Thursday 21st March 2013 and registration is now open to book tickets for this prestigious event: www.spacetech13.northeasttechnologypark.com

Stewart Watkins, Managing Director of Business Durham said: “I’m delighted that Dr Chadwick has been able to join an already exciting schedule for Spacetech 2013.

“The space sector is worth around £9.1bn a year to the UK economy and Government recently stated it wanted to grow this to £40bn by 2030, so now really is the time for business to explore a growing market.

“The event at NETPark in March is gearing up to be our best yet as we welcome experts on projects from across the globe who are eager to share their experience and knowledge with attendees.”
