Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club again demonstrated their prowess in the pool at the end of season Durham ASC gala held at Freeman’s Quay in Durham. The team consisted of mainly young and novice swimmers, so the results were truly amazing; out of 63 entries across the weekend the team medalled in 44, with 17 Gold, 15 Silver and 12 Bronze, along with numerous personal bests by all swimmers.

The team included Claudia Chapman, Kate Carmichael, Alyssa Craggs, Katelyn Craig, Sophie Wilkinson, Anna Chaytor, Sadie, Carla & Kate Abel, Michal Ondrej, Haydn Craggs, Zac Hodgkinson and Niall Coulthard. Attending Coach Lee Craggs said ‘It was a privilege to take the team to Durham, for such a young squad they demonstrated true professionalism and sportsmanship as well as having fun in the pool’.

This has been an exceptional season for the club boasting two Great Britain representatives, as well as National and Regional champions, which could not be done without the support of coaches, volunteers, parents and Leisure Centre staff, plus the dedication and commitment of its swimmers.

Swimming is a great way of improving your cardiovascular and general all-round fitness and lots of Sedgefield 75’s younger members excel in other sports and regularly represent their schools at athletics, track and field, biathlon, triathlon, football, rugby to name a few.
