On Monday 22nd April, the children and staff of St. Francis’ joined many people around the world to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual event on 22nd April to establish support for environmental protection. The first Earth day was held on 22nd April, 1970, and now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
The children watched a live virtual Earth Day assembly at 9.30am, they were joined by members of David Attenborough’s Planet Earth III team and listened as they discussed nature and the planet in an engaging and educational get together. The children really enjoyed learning lots about the animals and the jobs many amazing people do to show us an up-close and personal experience of many animals around the world.
