Dear Sir,
I have lived in Woodham, Cobblers Hall and Greenfield for the last 39 years and know the area and its people well, and have a long successful track record of commitment to, and pride in, our community and its people.
As a community activist, volunteering with Woodham Community Centre and other groups in the area, I was the first Newton Aycliffe winner of Durham County Council’s Chairmans award for outstanding community service. Also, Computers for the Terrified is still going strong after 18 years. I have also been involved in providing a chain of 24 hour emergency Defibrillators and training courses in CPR (I’m just 12 short of training 1000 people). Encouraging others to become involved has managed to earn me the local nickname of ‘Defib Dave’. The commitment by so many people and groups to this illustrates what a great community we have and what we can achieve working together.
I have always encouraged working together in partnership with others, and, as part of our Great Aycliffe Area Action Partnership have helped it make a great difference.
As a Councillor, sensible sustainable solutions, not soundbites, are what is needed.
We need to work together to develop solutions to fix local issues like ASB and litter, and improve the services across the area.
I have a long community track record before becoming a DCC Councillor. If elected again, I will continue to work with others to make sure our local communities receive a fair share of funding, administered locally and efficiently.
Councillor David Sutton-Lloyd
Aycliffe North and Middridge.
Defib Dave
