Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s first team sponsored by Lift Right Fork Lift Training visited Norton and came away with a disappointing defeat by 5 wickets in their NYSD 3rd division match. Losing an important toss, Aycliffe were asked to bat first on a wet pitch, but still managed to post a respectable score of 167 all out from 35.2 overs. 19 year old Michael Howe top scored for Aycliffe with a hard hitting 56 and received good support from 18 year old opener Sam Telford, who hit an equally aggresive 33. Aycliffe fielded badly during the Norton innings, dropping five catches that they may well of have held on another day and which helped the homeside to reach their victory target in the 46th over.

The second team league game at home to Billingham Synthonia was cancelled due to bad weather.

The first team were well beaten away at Whitby in the quarter final of the league cup, despite a fantastic 106 not out from captain Chris Palmer, who hit 16 fours and 2 huge sixes in his innings and his century came from just 67 balls.

Newton Aycliffe’s u18s lost at home to Bishop Auckland by 45 runs, chasing 118 in 20 overs for victory, the homeside were dismissed for 72 from 19.1 overs with Craig Robertson top scoring with 30 runs.

The under 15s had a tremendous 7 wicket victory at home to Bishop Auckland thanks to a superb career best score of 48 not out from 12 year old Adam Lamb and an excellent unbeaten 24 from opening batsman Pat Howe.

The u13’s lost away to Darlington at Feethams, chasing 116 for victory in 20 overs, Aycliffe managed to reach a creditable 77 for 5 with good contributions coming from Adam Lamb and Jack Lowery, who both batted well to each score 21 runs.
