Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring picked up a maximum 25 points to ease their relegation fears as their hosts Normanby Hall 2nd XI were unable to raise a team and therefore conceded the game in the NYSD 2nd division.
The 2nd team were thrashed by a very strong Bishop Auckland 2nd XI by 243 runs in the NYSD 3rd division. After being asked to bat first the visitors scored an impregnable 292 for 9 in their 50 overs, with Aycliffe bowlers Tony Travis (3 for 63), George Slatcher (2 for 58) and Dylan Tribley (2 for 42) working hard for their wickets. In reply, Aycliffe were skittled for just 49 after 21 overs with only 15 year old pair,  Jack Lowery (13 runs) and Dylan Tribley (10 runs) reaching double figures.
The u13’s team played most of their game in the drizzle but still lost by 10 wickets away at Hartlepool in the NYACC. Batting first Aycliffe batted well and scored 97 for 5 in their 20 overs thanks to an excellent innings from Joe Bowsher, who retired at 30 runs. There was also good contributions from Kieran Shingler (25 runs) and 11 runs from rookie opener Matt Greaves.
Our u11’s lost at home to title challengers Hartlepool by 51 runs despite a good performance with the bat from Leo Mercy, who top scored for Aycliffe with 10 runs.
