Durham Community Action is recognised as the leading infrastructure organisation for County Durham; providing advice, support and assistance to frontline groups operating in the Voluntary and Community Sector.

We have been awarded a National Lottery Community Fund grant to work alongside organisations to deliver a Community Hubs Development Programme across the county.

The aim of the project is to build resilience in communities through provision of well run and well led community spaces by:

• Ensuring trusted support is available for volunteers who carry responsibilities for managing these spaces;

• Building a sustainable legacy of community venues and spaces for County Durham which reflects the geographical diversity and communities of the county;

• Contributing to a strengthened infrastructure of thriving social and community opportunities and assets.

A Community Hub will:

• Develop new ideas to address and resolve local issues within the community;

• Enable communities to support their own needs;

• Combat social isolation and loneliness;

• Provide access to advice and other support services;

• Build local support networks within the community.

Our Offer:

• A designated Development Officer to provide bespoke advice, information and guidance;

• Help to undertake an organisational health check in both governance and finance;

• Support to develop sustainable plans;

• Opportunity to work towards quality marks;

• Tailored training and development sessions for your trustees, staff and volunteers;

• Small grants available (subject to specific partnership criteria, terms and conditions).
