On Easter Sunday, 17th April, at 10am, approximately 1000 bikers will be leaving Tesco at Dragonville, Durham. They will ride through Durham, Ferryhill, past Newton Aycliffe and into Darlington to deliver Easter Eggs to the children’s ward at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
They will then ride back to Durham to deliver more eggs to the children’s ward at Durham University Hospital.
The riders donate eggs and also make donations to raise funds for the three charities supported by the Egg Run.
The charities are the following:
Northumbria Blood Bikes, who provide a free transport service to the NHS for blood samples, baby milk and other urgent supplies.
Miles for Men and Walks for Women, a charity that supports cancer sufferers and their families.
Paws Up, started by Durham Police Dogs Section, to help rehome and support Police dogs at the end of their working life.
Thanks for help from Shirley Cormack, the Community Champion at Tesco Newton Aycliffe, we have a collection point in store for anyone who would like to donate Easter Eggs to the event. Also, weather permitting, on Saturday April 9th, we will have representatives from the Egg Run at the store to show some of the bikes used and explain about the charities.
We are also looking for volunteers to help marshal the ride on Easter Sunday.
