Bewick Crescent Doctors Surgery Swimathon Team celebrated their 25th year on Sunday, when they took part in this year’s “Swimathon” held at Spennymoor Leisure Centre. This year they are raising money to support the Great North Air Ambulance. The team wish to thank all those who gave sponsorship money.

This was the 37th year the event has been held, and approximately £400,000 has been raised for charity. The estimated sponsorship pledged this year by the teams who took part is expected to be in excess of £5,000.

This year’s headline good cause is the Scanner Appeal of Darlington and Bishop Auckland Hospital’s with half of the money raised going to the appeal, and the balance benefitting other local charities.

The Swimathon event is staged each year by the following Clubs on a rotational basis: The Rotary Clubs of Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor, Sedgefield, Newton Aycliffe and Darlington Lions.
