After all the snow and rain, Saturday home games were wiped out at the OakLeaf, adding to the back log of games for some of our 22 teams.
Pools Youth 2 v Aycliffe U13 Girls 0
Not the result we wanted or deserved. Aycliffe looked the brighter but, unfortunately, Pools took their opportunities and Aycliffe just couldn’t find the back of the net. Not for the lack of trying or perseverance but the Pools defensive line was impressive.
POTM: Emily.
Farringdon Red 2 – Aycliffe U13 Eagles 2
The game started with The Eagles dominating and having chances that we just couldn’t convert. The boys scored first from Jake and Kian made some great saves to keep the lead. HT 0-1. The Reds equalised from a free kick but Will restored the lead. Then a goal was awarded to the Reds to bring the game back level. Despite their best efforts the lads couldn’t find a winner. MOTM: Zac.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v Foundation of Light
We were expecting a tough game, in the cup, against the side that won Division 1. The girls were asked to press without the ball and passing and moving quickly. Our girls were clinical in attack and extremely tough to break down in defence, not allowing the opposition to create much in attack.
Goals: Phoebe 4, Nyah 3, Brooke, but everyone played the part in a very good win.
Aycliffe U9 Eagles v Thornley
The lads bounced back after last week’s defeat as they showed great confidence on the ball, especially around the box, where they were calm and passed well. The lads scored 4 unanswered goals in what was a very good performance.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Kader FC
A close first 15 minutes but then the deadlock was broken with a converted penalty at the end of the first half and 2 quick goals early in the second half. Tarek then scored followed by a first goal for the boys from Kobe, to finish the game.
POTM: Dylen and Tarek.
Aycliffe U11 Eagles v Prissik Inter
Last game of a tough season for the boys today against a team sitting second in the league. The boys battled hard throughout but Prissik were just better than us on the day.
MOTM: Aiden.
Adults
Chester-le-Street 2 v Aycliffe U23’s 1
Cup semi-final today against yet another side from the league above, despite taking the league the home side scored twice before HT. A lot of effort but no goals in the second half as CLS progress to the final.
Newton Aycliffe Women 8 v Sunderland Wear United 4
The visitors needed a win to secure the league title but it was a game dominated by the Women. Amber opened the scoring, from a flick on from Bethany. The goals kept coming despite Wear United still looking dangerous. Katie then scored 5 times and a second from Amber and the points were secure. This win cemented 4th place in a very competitive league.
