Winner Paul Mansfield joined the team at Walworth Special School in Newton Aycliffe in 2009.
The school provides a safe and welcoming learning environment for pupils with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties between the ages of four and eleven years old.
Paul was nominated by the Head of Care Pat Coglan at the school, Paul has been recognised for making a difference with the students’ lives by spending countless hours of his time to research and obtain additional grant funding to maximise the children’s opportunities.
He has also received praise for successfully implementing a full quality training programme for all staff and maintaining a cheerful, optimistic disposition and a positive approach to his work.
Headteacher Peter Wallbanks added that he and all the school staff were delighted with Paul’s success at winning this award. Paul had added another dimension to the high quality provision provided at Walworth and in particular the residential provision.
