The TA at Northfield Way held an Open Day last Saturday and put on an impressive display of equipment demonstrating their role in the Armed Forces.
Members of the public were given an insight into Army life and the importance of reservists who are a vital part in the defence of our country. Many have served in the current conflicts abroad and the training they receive at units like Aycliffe equips them well for their tour of duties.
Visitors were treated to Army food as the Cookhouse soldiers prepared tasty sausage and beefburger buns for sale on the day.
The event was interesting and enjoyable for all, spoilt only by inclement weather which affected the numbers attending.
The publicity on the Open Day was also at fault and more people may have attended if Newton News had received the information before that weekend. A number of our readers would not have received their copy of Newton News which was unfortunate for those who had worked so hard to put on a good event.
