Members of Aycliffe Running Club had a busy  time last weekend attending many races.
23rd March 2014  –  The Dalton Dash, a challenging 10K race set in the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds starting and finishing Dalton Estate, home of Lord and Lady Hotham.  Dave  Mackenzie was the only member of the club to compete in this race and although conditions were cool and windy Dave finished in 54:41
23rd March 2014 –  Dez Fielden  from Aycliffe finished in 5th position and 2nd M40 in the  Blakey Blitz 17.5K.  The race had 855 metres of climb and started near the Lion Inn on the North York Moors. Dez started steadily, went knee deep in a bog in some places and went strong uphill for the last mile passing 2 of his biggest rivals. He was about 5 minutes quicker than last year and finished in 1:30:42
23rd March 2014 – 5 members of the Running Club travelled to Thirsk for the 10 mile road race which is a fast and flat course.  Although bright and sunny the  runners had to contend with a heavy hailstone shower part way round the course but this did not deter Richard Campbell from achieving a personal best by finishing in  65:30. Tom Porter followed in 1:13:18, then Judith Porter 1:28:10, Julie Nisbet 1:35:48 and Craig Robinson 1:34:45.
23rd March 2014 – The final race in the Stockton 5K Winter Trail Series was held at Cowpen  Bewley.  First to finish for the club was John Burnside in 22:09 then Peter Smith in 22:35 who also won the series M50-59 category.
Sue Milburn finished in 26:20 and was Stockton Winter Trail Series F50-59 category winner
23rd March 2014 – Clare Rose from Aycliffe chose to get muddy at the Muddy Mayhem 10K assault course at Hardwick Park. The course consisted of a number of challenging obstacles including cargo nets, hay bales, slimy tunnels, muddy trenches, climbing walls and large stretches of freezing open water.
22nd March 2014 – At the North East Harrier League at Wrekenton Colin Gibson from Aycliffe had a magnificent run which saw him finish in 399th position in a storming run of 47 mins only bettered by Martyn Knox from Aycliffe who finished in 186th place with an excellent 38 mins. Total runners on the day 437 and Aycliffe finished 19th Team overall.
