Staff and cadets from 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets recently attended a battlefield tour and parade to commemorate the 1944 attempt to take and secure the city of Arnhem.
Staying just outside of Oosterbeek at a base previously used as a POW camp, the cadets joined others from across the UK.
They had a brief insight into life in the Dutch Army and life at the base.
The cadets had a great time meeting new people from the Dutch civilians, fellow Air Cadets and German Army reservists.
They learnt a great deal about the history of the operation and showed their respects to the fallen by laying a wreath in the war graves cemetery.
